EverQuest 2 Insider Guide-chapter007

“Tiers” refer to the level range of a zone, where tier 1 refers to levels 0-10, tier 5 to levels 40-50.
It would be fairly hard to give estimates on any given “?” loot value since these have a “no-value” flag and value to adventurers vary (I will explain shortly). However “?” loot will range anywhere from a few cps/gps (tier-1 to tier-3) to a few sps/gps (tier-4 to tier-5).
Why “?” loot value vary
As we explained previously, “?” loot can be spiders, ants, bones, shards, etc. and these items are used for completing “Collection” quests. When all the items for a particular quest are found (e.g. finding all the striped spiders), the quest will update and ask you to find a Mervos Stadrin (360, -60) in North Qeynos or Renny Parvat (-280, 100) in East Freeport. Upon talking to Mervos/Renny, your quest will complete, giving you an item, some money, and experience. Now the money reward varies (e.g. cp-gps) but exps and the quest reward can actually be fairly valuable. As a result, folks will want to acquire (buy or harvest “?” nodes) for 3-main reasons:
Completing a quest: Some adventurers feel compelled to complete all quests in
their quest book and the particular “?” loot you’re selling might complete their quest. Completing a collection quest will always yield a monetary reward anywhere from a few sps (tier-1 to tier-3) to sps/gps (tier-4 to tier-5).
Obtaining the “?” Loot reward: Some collection quests have very nice reward
items. These items can be used by the adventurer or sold for some money
ranging from a few cps to a few gps. For example, the Collection of Glowing Orbs Necklace sells 5gp to the NPC broker.
Getting Experience: All collection quests will yield experience upon completion,
can be completed by any level adventurer, and therefore the amount of money they would pay for a particular “?” loot could be great. Quite literally, you could instantly take your adventurer from level-1 to level-20 if you had enough collection quests (”instant” leveling). Although, it would be quite expensive to level this way and against the overall topic of this guide (i.e. to make money, not to spend money for exps).
Farming “?” in dungeons
Unlike “?” nodes that are found outside, the “?” in dungeons can spawn periodically at certain spots. Almost all dungeons I have adventured had a handful of these “special” spots and the spawn times were roughly a few minutes (i.e. at least 5-minutes). It’s also quite typical that you’ll see some adventures “hanging” around these areas just to “farm” these “?” nodes. Here’s a list of a few of those locations (I have found):
